Pillow Fight Tonight!

I am planning on attending the pillow fight tonight with the enthusiasm of an eagle chick leaving the nest for the first time. Namely, terror mixed with blind panic and wild, uncontrolable joy.

Still glowing from the buzz of Cacophony Christmas, and jonesing from the lack of...

Richard Dreyfuss and Rupert Murdoch?

Notes from:

Richard Dreyfuss on the Miller Center Forums, says that patriotism right now is not voting. Could this be the shot in the arm that "NONE OF THE ABOVE" needs?

You don't let a doctor touch you until he has gone through medical school.

You don't pick a 747 pilot from the passenger list.

So why do you let an untrained, unenlightened citizenry vote and choose elected leaders?

Dreyfuss advocates teaching civics, a lost art of our public education process.

Reason logic clarity of thought critical thinking

Civility is not antique manners. It is the oxygen required for a functioning democracy. Without it, we die.

Net neutrality and other news blasts

Net neutrality and other news blasts...

Net neutrality is being carried bravely by Al Franken. I salute his efforts. You can watch his speech to Congress on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aE5DLymXu4

The Watchman's Rattle, Rebecca D. Costa is beginning to be an interesting read. She is a very young and poorly documented author, but the book got published and has an excellent beginning. If you like Jared Diamond and The Earth is Flat guy, you should check it out. Could be more chicken little stuff, but compelling.

And finally, the AIG financial statement came to my door last week. Lowest priority document of all time, according to the plain white wrapper. It sat in the recycling bin for two days before I realized what it was. This is the doc that explains why AIG needed so much money and when and how they are going to pay it back. These are the answers we have been waiting for! Right? Well, be careful what you ask for. Finally got around to glancing at it. 700 + pages of legal, financial speak. If you can make sense of it, please teach me. I know much less now than before I pulled it out of the bin. See more at DouglasJohnDouglas at Facebook or on the crappy paste-up job below:

Okay, is it just me? Or does this seem more like a galley proof waiting for April Fool's day release? AIG is leading the insurance world out of a hard time. Okay, where do I start? Have they paid back all the money? Did they ever need it? Is this all total BS? If they did pay it back, why isn't the president and everybody with TARP bragging about it? If they haven't paid us back, why, why why?

San Francisco post re LA owners battle

Okay, I got most of the twenty back. I am now in the bay area. A full on Giants fan? Well, I always did like the underdog. Come on Yankees! Um, math? Well you need numbers for baseball, right? Batting averages, distance to the fences, bases and mound, and then of course won / lost percentages. Saw yesterday that that team from Chavez lost more games than they won this year. Who knew we would ever miss the O'Malleys? Thanks Frank, you jackass. Little advice from an old friend: TCOYS!

Wow! You got fat!

Oh, I guess I was just looking in the mirror! Hey, 18 months went by like crazy. Welcome to Summer 2010. I hope your math brains are not frying in your heads, and you are enjoying your summer and looking forward to the fall and a new school year. Mr. Whiting

P.S. Actually, I am down almost twenty pounds since April. Does it show? DJW
